In the valley of the Brogo River, this reserve is one of the largest areas of intact native bushland in the region, and conserves forest ecosystems poorly protected elsewhere in the state. More than 90% of Australia's dry rainforests have been destroyed. Brogo protects patches of the most southerly remnants in NSW.

This is a place of deep, walled valleys and ferny valley floors. In the 1970s environmental activist Richard Sylvan came across this bushland property destined to be cleared and decided to buy it. It was bequested to Bush Heritage for ongoing protection.

Located on the inland floodplains of northern NSW, Naree sits at the head of the nationally significant wetlands of the Cuttaburra Channels and Yantabulla Swamp. During flood events it becomes home to an incredible 50,000 breeding water birds and is rated as one of the 20 most important water bird sites in Australia.

One of best known intact examples of grassy white box woodlands, which were once part of a network covering some 10 million hectares of south-eastern Australia. They're now one of the most highly fragmented and poorly protected ecosystems.

The resting place of environmental activist and thinker Richard Sylvan, this reserve was generously donated to us by his wife Louise. This small but magical reserve protects Illawarra subtropical rainforest (an endangered ecological community in NSW), including red cedars, giant stinging trees, brush bloodwoods and native fig trees.

Location: 75km south of Canberra
Protects endangered grassy box gum woodlands and temperate grasslands, with the Murrumbidgee River wrapped around its northern and western flanks. It's also an important part of Kosciuszko 2 Coast – a partnership connecting remnant woodlands and grasslands between the Kosciuszko and Namadgi National Parks and the forests of NSW's far south coast.
